The Bridge, directed by Caren McCaleb and Ana Baer with dancers Yuki Hayashi Hammel and Enissa Ann Harris will premiere at Dance Camera West 2010.
The Bridge is about two women, inexplicably drawn together, who find themselves walking towards the same bridge. Their physical encounter reveals a greater bond. The video is inspired by the seemingly mystical world of quantum physics. Science writer Lynne McTaggart writes in her book The Field: "Quantum particles once in contact retain a connection even when separated, so that the actions of one will always influence the other, no matter how far they get separated."

LOCAL MAKERS - LA CHOREOGRAPHERS AND DIRECTORS
SATURDAY JUNE 19 8:00PM-10:00PM
Outdoor screening event for the whole family featuring local artists.
Bring a flashlight and blanket.
Cheviot Hills Recreation Center (behind the building)
2551 Motor Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90064
FREE admission, no reservations required
310-837-4233
www.dancecamerawest.org

An evening of dance, music, and film created by Avant Media artists.
Anchored by the namesake work by choreographer Dani Beauchamp and composer Randy Gibson, Mémoire-en-Ciel presents a collection of multidisciplinary collaborative performances that explore the nature of memory itself.
The seven short movements of Mémoire-en-Ciel close the evening with Beauchamp’s stunning exploration of psychological references of color, communal memories, and simple beautiful gestures set to Gibson’s evocative score and awash in the immersive lighting designed by Heather Libonati.
Performances will also include a new work created by Ana Baer-Carrillo and Caren McCaleb and a revival of the collaboration between Baer-Carrillo and Gibson: Mujeres de Juárez.
The music for Mujeres de Juárez was recently released on Gibson’s solo album, Voices + Sine Waves, and this new presentation of the work will feature remastered audio and reworked video in a whole new vision of the work reflecting the continuing turmoil in the border town of Juárez, Mexico.

http://highwaysperformance.org

http://avantmedia.org/art/productions/memoireenciel.html
Collectively, LUNAFEST films captivate audiences, compel dialogue and arm those who participate with both the knowledge and the motivation to make a difference in their communities.
LUNAFEST is completely funded by LUNA and run by a small, dedicated group of LUNA employees. 100 percent of all proceeds are donated to charity – 15 percent to the Breast Cancer Fund and the remaining 85 percent of proceeds go directly back to hosting community organizations.
Over the years, as LUNAFEST has grown from a single annual event to more than 140 festivals each season, LUNA’s commitment to this worthwhile program has grown as well. We are continually inspired by the individual and collective efforts of women – and we are awed by the results. To date, LUNAFEST has raised over $250,000 for worthwhile women’s organizations, while raising hope and awareness for the stories of women everywhere.

I really enjoyed meeting Stacey. She is an inspirational person.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vufEqpZZql0

New York Times Best Seller
LA Times Best Seller
Audubon Magazine Editor's Choice
People Magazine 4 of 4 Stars
Indie Top Ten

WESLEY THE OWL is a heart-wrenching and heart-felt story of the deep, reciprocal, and enduring emotional bonds that developed between Stacey O'Brien and her long time friend. It's an inspiring example of how animals are able to reveal to us who they really are and who we really are when we allow them to express themselves openly and safely. Profoundly passionate and personal, this remarkable book shows how we can all increase our compassion footprint in a human-dominated world. Read it and share widely. I sure will.
